One paper will be selected as the Outstanding Student Paper if there are sufficient submissions, and that student will receive a plaque in honor of his or her work. Students whose papers are selected for presentation but who cannot obtain funding from their institution will receive a waiver of their conference registration
There is no specific template that the students need to follow to make their submission. In terms of citation, we accept both Bluebook and APA citation styles. Most students submit using Bluebook.
All submissions are to be made electronically by 11:59 PM on May 31, 2026, via the online Call for Participation and marked as a student paper.
All papers are blind reviewed by three members of the ALSB. Acceptances (e-mail) will be sent out as soon as possible. But to avoid being shut out, book your students’ hotel rooms well in advance; you can always cancel before the deadline.
By submitting a paper, the student agrees that, if accepted, he or she will present it (in person) at the national meeting. All presenters are invited to attend the conference, including the awards presentation.
Please consider sponsoring a student. It is a rewarding experience for both students and their faculty sponsors, and it is the kind of activity that most schools support. Upon request, letters will be provided to the Deans acknowledging your efforts and accomplishments.
Many faculty members who have sponsored students say that working with the student and seeing the final presentation have been among the most rewarding activities they have undertaken as faculty members. It’s a great addition to both of your resumes.
