If any of that interests you, please plan to join us at The Northeast Academy of Legal Studies in Business annual conference on April 24-26, 2009 at The Porches Inn in North Adams, Massachusetts in the beautiful Berkshire Mountains. Our conference will feature its usual high quality academic paper presentations as well as our annual award for "Best Conference Paper". This year we are pleased to announce the addition of two more competitive awards in keeping with our mission of assisting junior faculty in their academic growth and in sharing the best our teaching techniques with all of our colleagues. We will be presenting an award for the best paper submitted by a junior faculty member (a faculty member who has not yet been granted tenure) as well as an award for the best paper written on a pedagogical subject. Participants will also be given the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion on shared governance (or the lack thereof) in business schools. The Northeast Academy of Legal Studies in Business prides itself on being a supportive environment for faculty and we know how to have a good time as well ! This year’s conference will be held at the unique Porches Inn in North Adams, Massachusetts .Porches is a luxury bed and breakfast located in an historic mill town. The Inn is made up of six beautifully restored Victorian row houses situated in the cultural heart of northern Berkshire County. Across the street looms the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, a vast, cutting-edge monument to the unleashed imagination, housed in a beautifully restored 19th century mill complex. We will be enjoying dinner and a tour of MASS MoCA during our conference. Founded in 1924, the Academy of Legal Studies in Business (International) is an association of teachers and scholars in the fields of business law, legal environment, and law-related courses outside of professional law schools. Our nearly 1,000 members teach primarily in schools of business in colleges and universities, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Members come from all fifty states, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, England, and a number of other nations. The Pacific Southwest Academy of Legal Studies in Business is one of eight regional subdivisions of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business (ALSB). The academy provides a forum for the exchange of ideas, and encourages support and cooperation among those who teach and conduct research in the field of legal studies. In addition, the ALSB works to foster understanding and cooperation between college and university administrators and our constituency. |
